Summer is well under way and I am well into my summer reading list. I took away a stack of books from the school library and vowed to read them all this summer. I am hoping to also post some book reviews on a separate page. Hopefully I will keep this up throughout the year and let you know what is going on in the library.
I started with Gone by Michael Grant. This book is one that I have been interested in reading for awhile because it is my favourite topic. What would happen if there was a huge change in the world over night? In this book it turns out that everyone over the age of 15 disappears. And it happens right in the middle of the school day! I enjoyed the main characters and it kept me reading right to the end to find out where everyone went.
Next it was Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume. Of course I had read this before, probably about the time that I was in the fourth grade and maybe once or twice since then but I still enjoyed the story. Peter's common sense attitude really drew me in and I could imagine how much Fudge annoyed him. I love the setting of the book, it really gives a feeling for life in this time period.
Right now I am reading Sarah Dessen's book: Lock and Key. I am about halfway through and find this a great book with many twists and turns. The main character Ruby has been abandoned by her mother and is trying to reconnect with a sister she feels abandoned her as well. I am hoping the mother doesn't come back but I'll have to wait and see.
